A little introduction - Sarah West
My name is Sarah, and I was a senior nurse in the NHS for 20 years. But it was only after being formally diagnosed with ADHD about two years ago—right as I hit perimenopause—that things really started to fall apart.
I was struggling with juggling work, running a household, supporting two incredible neurodivergent teenage daughters (who I love to the moon and back!), and caring for elderly relatives. Suddenly, I just couldn’t cope anymore. My GP signed me off work for three months, and during that time, I started to really process my ADHD.
I found an ADHD coach, and for the first time in my life, someone actually understood me. They helped me unpack the struggles I’d faced my whole life, which I was becoming more and more aware were down to ADHD and being neurodivergent, and for the first time, I felt truly seen and supported. That experience changed everything—it gave me the clarity and confidence to retrain as an ADHD coach myself.
I knew I wanted to specialise in supporting women like me—women navigating perimenopause and menopause while coming to terms with a lifetime of what I thought were character flaws, but were actually undiagnosed ADHD. These included struggles with organisation, focus, motivation, rumination, and negative self-talk. I had been misdiagnosed with anxiety and depression (which, of course, can also be coexisting conditions with neurodivergence) and had therapy and counselling during my lifetime which I had never found really helped me.
With 20 years of nursing experience and a newfound passion for ADHD coaching, I retrained with the ADD Coaching Academy (ADDCA). This is one of the most reputable and gold-standard training organisations for ADHD coaching in the world, as ensuring I provide the highest level of support to my clients is incredibly important to me.
And now, I’ve launched Sarah West ADHD Thrive Together—a space where I help women harness their ADHD instead of fighting against it. So many of us have been told our traits are weaknesses when, in reality, they are strengths waiting to be embraced.
I live in beautiful Devon with my husband, two daughters, our cat Hobbes and dog Sidney. I love open water swimming, spending time with friends and family and walks in the Devon countryside, North Cornwall and Devon coastlines.
I’d love to connect with you!
