Access to Work: Work with your own ADHD coach, for free!

If you have ADHD and you’re in work, the UK government’s Access to Work scheme could be a game-changer.

It’s a financial grant designed to help people with disabilities or health conditions by providing both practical and financial support, making it easier to get or stay employed.

This can be really useful if you’re thinking about teaming up with an ADHD coach.

What’s Access to Work All About?

This fantastic scheme can help cover costs for things that make work smoother for you — like special equipment, a virtual assistant, an ADHD coach, or changes to your workspace, and even travel if public transport is a no-go. It’s tailored to fit what you need to succeed at work.

Who Can Benefit?

If you’re over 16 and your ADHD impacts your job performance (and you’re living and working in England, Scotland, or Wales), then this might be just right for you. It’s open to people in all sorts of paid work, from traditional employment to self-employment.

And you don’t need to have a formal ADHD diagnosis, self-diagnosis is accepted too.

How to Apply

You’ve got to handle the application yourself, and if you find paperwork or admin a challenge parts of it can be tricky, but don’t worry — that’s where your coach can come in handy.

I often help clients to apply for their AtW grant, for free.

This means most of the admin is done for them. Plus, because I’ve done it before, I know how to help make the process as smooth as possible.

You can apply online, over the phone, or even by post. You’ll need to share a bit about how ADHD affects your work and what kind of support would help. If you’re employed, you’ll need to make sure you know the details of your workplace and have a contact who can vouch for your application.

Connecting with an ADHD Coach

One of the best parts? If working with an ADHD coach is part of your plan to thrive at work, Access to Work might help fund that. Imagine having a coach to guide you through work challenges, funded by a grant that supports your professional growth. That’s a win-win in any book.

For more info on how to apply and get the ball rolling, check out the official Access to Work page on GOV.UK.

Or get in touch, I’ll be happy to chat on a free discovery call about how this could work for you.

It’s a scheme that’s designed to help you make the most of your work life, despite the hurdles ADHD might throw your way. Why not see if it can make things a little easier?
